Welcome Springtime!

Today was such a beautiful day.  With a high of 66, it was actually nice to be outside.  In fact, it was way to nice to not be outside.  Spring has always been my favorite holiday.  I love nature and everything coming to life after a long winter.  The breeze was crisp and the sun was bright.

It was time to introduce our perfect October baby to the outdoors.  The poor girl has, until today, only really known a life of cold and snow.  Today, we met my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew for a walk around the Mishawaka Riverwalk.

Afterwards, I put Anne in my Snugli and we walked to the park down the street from our house.
We went swinging.  I loved watching the awe and wonder in her face as her experienced the wind blowing in her face.  It was a sensation that she had never experienced before.  We have a swing at home, but this was different.  This was wind blowing in your face, leaning over and seeing the ground different.  My sweet October baby had never seen grass or rocks before or seen trees not covered in snow.
"To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork."
Psalm 19:1 ESV

I pray that I continue to be awed by God's beautiful creation and love it like I'm seeing it for the first time.

Five Month Update

Anne actually turned 5 months old last Sunday.  This week has been a bit busy, so sorry for the delay.  Anne has really started to show her personality.  We just love her more every day.  She is still not a huge fan of tummy time but she likes it more than she used to.  She loves to meet new friends, as long as mommy and daddy are around.

This was an exciting month.  We took Anne swimming for the first time.  The pool was like a really large bathtub and all her friends were there, so she seemed a bit confused at first.  I can't wait until she is a little more active in the water.  We are debating doing swim lessons this summer.  We can start them at 6 months.

Could she not be any more precious?
Anne is starting to enjoy books and her new favorite "game" is to wrap herself up in her floormat.

Weight: 12 lbs, 10 ounces (25%).  She has doubled her birth weight.
Eating: We have started the process of introducing her to "people food."  She tried peas and carrots during this month. She still loves to nurse about ever 2-3 hours, sometimes more often.
Sleeping: She has basically given up her daytime nap.  Nighttime sleep usually lasts around 5-6 hours at a time.  We have tried to stick with a bedtime routine of diaper change, getting lotion and "baby massage", putting on her sleeper, a bedtime snack, getting into her sleepsack, then ending with rocking or a walk around the house.  Then we put her into her crib with her crib music player.
