Easter Missions Breakfast

 

Steve and I, as part of the Missions Committee at Gospel Center, served an Easter Breakfast before church on Sunday.  I would call it a success.  We estimated about 150-180 pancake eaters that attended.  I wish I would have taken some pictures.  I was running around making sure that the servers had pancake mix, cleaning up spills, etc.  Steve was a pancake maker and server.  We also had sausage, bacon, fruit, and juice for people to eat and drink.  It looked like everybody got enough to eat.  We even had some food leftover.

Stan and Anna did a great job organizing the event and creating table decorations with information about all the missionaries that Gospel Center supports.

All the money raised went to the Missions Committee for outreaches and future mission adventures.  I really enjoyed it.  We actually missed church because we were washing dishes and cleaning up after the breakfast.  It was a good time though.

Easter Weekend

I think Easter is my favorite holiday.  Easter is about celebrating the resurrection of Christ.  Without the resurrection, we have no Christianity.  If the story ended on Good Friday with Jesus on the cross, then Jesus was just a great teacher.  But the story didn't end there. 
Matthew 28:1-10
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.
The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me." (NIV)

 Steve and I both had to work on Saturday, but after work we had dinner with some friends.  It was nice to leave the house and spend time with people outside of work.  Overall, it was a good Saturday.  Sunday, we got up for church like we always do.  There is always something special for me about Easter Sunday at church.  After church, we ate some lunch and cleaned the house to get it ready for our visitors.  Then we went over to my parent's for some Easter dinner.  I really do have the greatest family on the planet.

Monday was my dad's birthday, so after work we met for dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings and went bowling.  It's probably years since I've been bowling.  I scored 93.  I was nice to get out of the house again.  Third time since I've left the house for something other than work or grocery shopping in week or maybe months.  I'm looking forward to a hopefully relaxing and healing vacation next week. Overall, it was a great weekend.

Easter 2007

I'm dreaming of a White Easter....Huh?...What? Don't you mean White Christmas? No, I case you didnt know it actually snowed here on Easter. I was talking to my best friend's dad last night and he said it snowed there on Easter too. He lives in Dallas, TX. He said it got down to 32 degreess last week. That is just crazy to me. Hopefully, it will warm up soon.

I spent Easter relaxing around Mishawaka. Steve and I went to Granger for church. I have been goin gto Granger CC for almost a decade and this was my first Easter service. Usually, I go out of town for Easter. It was an interesting experience. Third service was really packed.

After church, we took a nap because I wasn't feeling good and was tired. Steve worked on his budget while I napped and he cleaned my apartment a little. We are still working on making my apartment look nice since my sister moved out. We are starting to combine all of our stuff. He moved most of his kitchen stuff into my apartment. We put the stuff we think we are going use in the cabinet and packed the othe stuff away. You don't realize how much stuff you have until you have to pack it. Between the two of us, we have alot of stuff. We are planning to have a garage sale this summer after we get married so we can downsize a little in the kitchen area.
