Ohio State Baby Hat Attempt 1

Steve decided that he wanted the baby's "take home" outfit to be an Ohio State outfit.  That shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that knows him.  He bought some onesies while in Ohio this past weekend.  Since the baby is due in October, I thought that the baby would also need a coat and hat to complete the outfit.

I found a great little hat and coat online and thought, "Hey, I could maybe make that."  I'm a very beginner crocheter. I'm still very much learning.
Well, last night I bought some yarn and needles and got to work.  It was very hard to find some baby yarn in non pastel colors.  The red and gray are not "official" baby yarns, but they are still soft.  I think the finished project turned out pretty good though.

Now, on to the coat.  That looks much harder.  I've never made anything besides hats or blankets.
Our rainbow bear was a great model.

Learning to Sew

My mom got to me a sewing maching for my birthday last month.  I haven't sewed anything on the sewing maching since I was in 7th and 8th grade Home Ec class.  In 7th grade, I made a chocolate chip cookie pillow and in 8th grade I made a blue tote bag, which I still have.  I guess now is as good a time as any to learn how to sew.  Now, I just have to figure out how to use it and make project I should make first.  I found a website allfewsewing.com that has some free patterns on it, so I think I'm going to start there.  This should be an adventure. :o)
I wonder if there any sewing classes in the area where I can take classes.  I might learn better if I have someone teaching me, than just teaching myself.  Hopefully, learning to sew will help teach me some patience along the way too.

Second Project is Done!

Good Luck Bear likes the hat too!
Today was a pretty relaxing day.  Steve went to Chicago to a Cubbies vs Cardinals game with Damian.  So I was home all alone to relax and work on my next crochet project. I made a little white baby hat with a green border and a green/brown pom pom.  It's pretty cute.
I did get some laundry, dishes, and cleaning done today too.  It was a great end to a very busy and stressful week.

I got some new yarn today.  Hancock Fabrics had it on sale for 90% off. I wonder what I should make next.

My First Project is Done!

Good Luck Bear likes the blanket. I hope Baby Butts likes it too!
I decided earlier this summer that I am a little domestically challenged.  I can cook pretty good, but when it comes to sewing or anything like that I am useless. I can barely sew on a button.  I decided that I wanted to learn how to crochet a baby blanket.  It's not perfect, but I think it turned out pretty good.  It's a cute little yellow baby blanket.  It took a long time to finish it, hopefully as I get better at it I will get faster.
I wonder what I should make next?
